One of the best things about other people is celebrating! We all have our holidays, based on culture, country and often religion as well. Isn’t it fun when we can celebrate other people’s occasions, too!?!? This weekend is Orthodox Easter and growing up we got to share in the joy of wonderful food & community through friends who are Serbian, Greek, or Macedonian. What joy! From equisite Easter eggs that there wooden (carved), real (just the shells – handpainted) to yummy (chocolate, of course!) through the traditions and the foods. Some of our fave were the Greek dishes, including whole roast lamb, amazing sides and starters like tzaziki, fresh salads with lots of lemon and dill in the dressings, freshly baked breads, and of course the desserts. Our friend Michael & his mother made the best – special round “rosette” baklava filled with nuts & honey and the Greek honey cake were among the amazing selection.
So to all who celebrate, Happy Orthodox Easter this weekend. To all who don’t, maybe we should! After all, we give joy by sharing Chinese New Year with others and in joining in their special days. Spread the joy.
